Marcie and Mike Engaged!

I remember my senior year of high school and the anxiety of filling out college applications. And when I say “anxiety,” I’m meaning my friends’. I didn’t have a list of the country’s top ten schools that I dreamed of attending like they did. During study hall I would listen to their hopes and dreams as I sipped on my Hi-C juice box (ha! drinking one right now in fact) and ate my peanut butter crackers. Today, I can honestly say that most, if not all, made it and I am so proud of them! It wasn’t that I didn’t have ambition to become something great. I have plenty of ambition! However, I knew I could get the education I needed in my hometown. I was going to be a business woman. I’ve known it since I was five. I didn’t need Harvard to tell me how to make money and apparently neither did Bill Gates nor Mark Zuckerberg. Pahaha! However, it was considered somewhat taboo to apply to the college just across the river. Let’s be honest. I was over it and ready to rebel! If I had to subject myself to one more pretentious, private school doctrines, I was going to lose my ever-loving mind! I was a bird . . . a bird that needed to be set free to

live a little. With wings spread, I flew across the river and landed at UTC. One of the greatest decisions I ever made was applying to UTC’s Honors Program. When I learned that the program traveled abroad every summer, I just knew this was the program for me! Luckily, I was one of the thirty that was chosen. Over the next four years, this little bird flew to Italy, France, England, and Scotland. The other great part of the Honors Program was the people! They were interesting, cultured, smart, sometimes a little weird, philanthropic . . . all in all great people. This is where I met Marcie! Marcie was revered as the smartest person in our class. She graduated summa cum laude and went on to study at Emory School of Law. Today, she works for the Litigation Department of Baker Donelson. Marcie and Mike have dated for years! Mike also went to UTC and is now a mechanical engineer. Talk about a power couple! I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in February and to see what other successes this life brings them! Here are a few of my favorite images from their session:

Wine Over Water was happening the night of our shoot. Looks at all those little tents on the bridge behind them! Chattanooga is just the most amazing little town!

These pictures are amazing, as usual. I just love your comments about UHON and Marcie is the smartest in our class! I miss our UHON classmates so much and this was such a great way to stroll down memory lane.

    Thanks Lori Ann and Marcie!
