Earlier this month Nathan and I received the opportunity to join my parents on their trip to Banff, Canada. However, I’m slightly embarrassed to even mention how long it actually took us to get there. From the cancelled flight to the 3 hour layover, to the emergency plane landing in Edmonton, Canada, to missing our rental car and thus sleeping in the airport for 3 more hours once we reached Calgary, it was a 24-hour doozy! Every time we seemed to be eating, it was breakfast. LOL! Don’t worry though, I totally cashed in on the excuse to have a donut and coffee every time ;) Although we had a rough go of it starting out, the beautiful scenery, luxurious accommodations at Banff Springs Hotel, delicious food, and revitalizing spa day made up for it. It was truly a dream! Nathan and I are very thankful that my parents invited us because we LOVE to travel! Here are a few of my favorite images from our trip :) Enjoy! Here’s the second part of this story:
The reason we were all in Banff in the first place was to see dad off on a biking trip to ride the Continental Divide from Banff, Canada down to Mexico (2,745 mostly off-road miles). We have been able to find his location since August 15th via his findmespot.com satellite device. His safety and well-being is always on our minds as he has taken this trip into the wilderness SOLO. His first night out, he encountered a GRIZZLY! Freaking scary but he has pushed on despite the wildlife encounters and has crossed over into the US. He is currently in route to Helena, Montana. Nights outside have been extremely cold and he hasn’t even hit the highest elevations in Colorado AND fall is coming! So . . . we’ll see what he decides to do about the rest of his trip. Either way, I’m sure dad will have plenty of stories to tell upon his return. To find out more about what he’s attempting to do, I suggest watching the documentary film “Ride the Divide.”
